Live tours restarting in Siena
After a long wait, the live guided tours in Siena are finally starting again where, with great passion and enthusiasm, we have tried to prepare the return to live cultural activities in the best possible way.
After the launch of the webinar column “Fuori dal Comune” (Out of the ordinary) edited by the writer with fellow guide Ambra, we are finally ready to take you on a real “out of the ordinary” tour in Siena, in complete safety, to the few known places of Florence and Siena, continuing to pursue what is the ‘objective with which the column was born at the end of November last year.
Saturday 8 May 2021: visit to the Oratory of San Bernardino
After the virtual tours, it’s time for the live tours, with the physical presence of the visitors. The first live guided tour will be on Saturday 8 May, at 2.30 pm, with a visit to the Diocesan Museum and the Oratory of San Bernardino, one of the lesser known places in Siena, but which preserves extraordinary works of art, deserving to be known.
In fact, the oratory preserves a cycle of frescoes created by Domenico Beccafumi and Giovanni Antonio Bazzi known as “Sodoma“, the two undisputed protagonists of Renaissance painting in Siena at the beginning of the sixteenth century.
The cost of the guided tour, curated by Ambra guide of Siena and by the writer, is 12 euros per person.
Entrance to the Oratory of San Bernardino requires the purchase of a ticket which is part of the Opa Si Pass ticket with which you can also access the other locations of the Opa, i.e. the Cathedral, the Crypt, the Baptistery and the Museum of the Cathedral work. The ticket costs only 2 euros for residents of the Municipality of Siena, 15 euros for non-residents; it is valid for 3 days, which means that it can be used within 72 hours to be able to access all the museums listed above.
Since the guided tour of the Oratory will take place this Saturday, which is therefore a weekend, the ticket must be booked ⟢
